Quick, Easy and Kid-friendly Fish Finger Pie

January 19, 2015 by Katie Bryson 46 Comments

Katie Bryson in Birdseye's Mix Up Your Menu commercial

Feeding children is full of highs and lows. Will they eat what you put on the table tonight or will there be a chorus of complaints? My children might have a food writer for a mother, but does that mean they’ve got adventurous tastes in food? Sadly not. As much as I’d like to challenge them on a daily basis, I just don’t have the stamina the battles that would ensue if I started….

There are some things however that most parents will throw into their regular weekly repertoire for a quiet life and clean plates. Alongside pasta and pizza, fish fingers, mash and peas is definitely one of those meals. And that brings me on to today’s idea for a quick weeknight dinner and my second big announcement of 2015.

Yep, i’m in an advert! In the coming months i’ll be sharing simple family-friendly ideas to mix up your menu using Birds Eye products, the sort of meals that children will love and keep your blood pressure from rocketing.

You can find out more about the campaign on the Birds Eye Website, but this quick spin on the classic fish pie is bound to be a hit with kids. I made it for the boys in mini pie dishes last night and they loved it. Having previously decided they didn’t like fish fingers any more, the addition of cheesy mash on top has suddenly changed their minds.  That’s a relief!

Let me know what you think of the ad…

What are your favourite ways of serving fish fingers? Stuffing them in-between two slices of crusty bread? Rolling them up in a wrap? Do you like the look of this pie?! I’d love to hear how you eat yours!

Disclosure: I am working with Birds Eye to promote their Mix Up Your Menu campaign and will be sharing my ads and recipes over the coming months with you here in Feeding Boys.
