I’ve had a couple of chocolate samples through this week to try…
Marmite Very Peculiar Milk Chocolate
I adore marmite, especially on hot buttered toast, but in chocolate? Really?!
The smell of marmite hits you as you open the packet which is a little offputting. When you eat it the first taste is the sweetness of the chocolate, then the tangy sour note creeps in leaving you with a tiny bit of marmite breath. Is it pleasant? Kind of. I can’t really decide, but I’ll keep trying just to make sure!
Marmite Very Peculiar, 100g RRP £3
Available from Sainsbury’s, BHS, Firebox.com, Amazon, Menkind, Topshop and Independents
Cadbury Dairy Milk Oreo
Liked the idea of this, but found it ridiculously sweet as it was light on the chocolate and heavy on the cream filling. I’d have preferred just chunks of oreo biscuit dispersed in the chocolate to give it some texture. However the firefighter loved it as he has a very sweet tooth, so this is clearly a subjective thing!
For me this was amazing. Little crunchy fragments of caramel flavoured Daim bar dotted through the chocolate making it a heavenly eating experience. It didn’t last very long and out of the three I would definitely buy this one. A certain food blogger I know has been making deliciously naughty fridge cake with hers… I’d hop on over there and check it out if I were you!
Cadbury Dairy Milk with Daim is available in all major retailers nationwide RRP £1.42 for a 120g bar.

I had the Marmite chocolate last year and was not impressed by it. Looking forward to trying the Cadbury’s Daim I adore Daim bars.

No the Marmite chocolate is not something I’d go out and buy either. You’re going to love the Daim one I suspect…

Not sure about the marmite. I do like it on toast as you say!

Wouldn’t be able to cope with the Marmite, wouldn’t get past the smell but the Oreo and Daim by Cadbury’s would tempt me 🙂

I have had the Daim several times and it is delicious, I recently tired another Cadburys creation which contained jelly and fizzy bits that was awful..I am not liking the sound of Marmite although I must admit to loving Sea Salt chocolate by another well known brand.

The market is really starting to flood with all these different flavours… I think it’s a question of trying them ALL out until you find your favourites… oh the hardship!
