Review: Warburtons Half & Half Term kit

October 30, 2013 by Katie Bryson

Warburton's Half and Half term kit

Warburtons Half & Half and Olympic triathletes and brothers Jonathan and Alistair Brownlee have come up with a half term pack for kids,  and sent one to the Feeding Boys household for us to try.

The pack was stuffed with things to entertain the boys this holiday – including the brothers’ top 20 ideas to get kids out and active, a family ticket to a local attraction, aeroplane kits, marbles, water balloons, as well as Warburtons coupons to help keep the kids fuelled throughout the week.

We’ve been up in Northumberland with the grandparents so made the most of being outdoors and made our way through most of the suggested list of activities:

  • Build your own assault course
  • Bob for apples
  • Play hide and seek in the great outdoors
  • Play Pooh Sticks
  • Build paper aeroplanes and see whose can go the furthest
  • Have a pogo stick race
  • Have a tug of war
  • Make a tree house
  • Have a breakdancing competition
  • Get on your bike

It’s not always easy to prise the kids away from screens, but they always have far more fun racing around outdoors working up an appetite for the next round of hot chocolates.

Alnwick Castle aka Hogwarts

Also included in the kit was a family ticket to Alnwick Castle and Gardens which really was the highlight of our time away. Sam and Arlo were delighted to be going to “Hogwarts” and it totally lived up to their expectations.

Dressing up as knights, meeting a dragon, potion lessons, taking a broomstick flying course were just a few of the things the boys got up to. If you’re ever up in Northumberland i’d definitely put this attraction on your list as we were bowled over by how many activities were laid on for the kids. It’s pricey to get in but you come away feeling like it’s value for money.

Once you’ve bought a ticket for the castle it’s valid for 12 months, so you can go back multiple times. We all thought this was brilliant, as there’s so much to see you could easily keep going back and not get bored.

How have you kept the kids active this half term?

If you’re tearing your hair out over the holidays you can get more ideas over at https://www.facebook.com/Warburtons

Disclosure: Warburton’s sent us the Half & Half Term kit as part of their promotion which included free tickets to Alnwick Castle and Gardens along with vouchers to try out the Warburton’s range of products.

Awww cute. You must go to the harry potter world too. It’s expensive but totally worth it for budding wizards and hermione grangers in my case

Yes that’s firmly on Sam’s list Urvashi – possibly for his birthday treat 🙂

What a brilliant idea! Sure to cure the “I’m bored”! times during half term. Looks like you all had a great time, the boys atop the cannon look so cute! 🙂

Beautiful little book the audience were all given Beautiful little book the audience were all given at last night’s performance of #Here from @curious.monkey_ at @northern_stage. Such a powerful performance from the talented cast bringing together individual stories of what it means to seek sanctuary in the North East, the friendships that are forged and the spark of hope that refuses to be snuffed out. With the plight of refugees so visible right now, the timing of this performance was impeccable. #RefugeesWelcome #togetherwithrefugees🧡 #StoryCollectors
