Win beach hamper with seaside treats

October 3, 2011 by Katie Bryson 375 Comments

Isla Negra's funky caravan visiting UK beaches

With this rather marvellous recent dose of sunshine the people of the UK have been flocking back to the beach this weekend.

I’m sure we’ll all have our cosy coats and boots on in a few days’ time, but do you have a favourite beach in this country?

My personal favourite is Bamburgh in the wilds of Northumberland. White sandy dunes, sage green grasses and a dramatic stormy sea unfold from the forboding walls of the ancient castle.

Chilean Wine company Isla Negra are big fans of the beach and are building an interactive map of the UK and Irish coast and want beach-lovers to help them by uploading pics of their favourites. Find out more here

To celebrate this, Isla Negra are offering picnic hampers full of gorgeous foodie treats and wine for two lucky Feeding Boys readers.

Basket of goodies
THE PRIZES

A lovely wicker hamper containing:

1 bottle of Isla Negra wine
Burnt Sugar sea salt caramel fudge

    Wow lovely competition, thankyou!
My favourite beach in the UK is Bournemouth because I remember going for a lovely weekend with my hubby when we were dating and it was so beautiful and romantic!

The beach itself is not that spectacular, I would have to say my favorites is the beach in Troon which I used to live just across the road from. I have many happy memories as child/young teenager spending summers playing in the sand and sea, going to the funfair, eating ice cream and playing crazy golf.

My favourite beach is Bantham beach in South Devon, it’s beautiful. There is a main beach but tucked around the corner is a mini beach with what I can only describe as a lagoon! It’s so deep that you jump straight in and it’s deeper than you are tall! I used to spend most of my summer ther when I lived nearby. 🙂

Ooh did someone mention wine – cough! – What lovely goodies thank you for the chance to win. I have liked Isla Negra and feeding boys on facebook but I’m not on twitter. My favourite beach is Saltburn – 20 mins drive away – clean, lovely old pier and cliff lift. Now Jack is 11 and just wanting to be on his xbox – we pootle off there with a bucket and spade and he (and his brother) are quite happy to dig and dig and make sandcastles – even when the weather is not so good coats on, wellies on and off splashing we go.

My favourite beach in the UK is Barafundle Bay in my native Pembrokeshireshire, Wales. It has an unusual quality in that it “feels” like it isn’t in the UK, whatever the weather. Difficult to describe unless youve been there, but if you Google it, you’ll see what I mean. You also have to walk through a field of cows to get there, so that adds to the “other worldly” experience!

My favourite beach is Cemaes beach in the north of Anglesey. I lived there as a child and spent all summer on the beach. On summer evenings we would cook tea on a BBQ we made in the rocks and stay there until it went dusk. In the winter months I enjoyed walking along the almost deserted beach wrapped up in warm clothes and wellies. Although I have now moved from the area I still return to visit family and my favourite beach with all its memories!

My fave beach is Scarborough, it’s got two lovely strips of sand on the front. one quiet with no arcades behind and one with all the arcades. who could ask for more? one for either type of person. Also they have lot’s of lovely food venues along the front. Perfect for anyone’s day out.

I have to say Brighton beach is my favourite, as it’s nearby and so is the one I visit most, and I do find that pebbles instead of sand is very convenient when you fancy a walk without the full-on sandiness of a normal beach experience! However, the beach at Padstow, Cornwall is absolutely beautiful too, with lots of caves and rock pools for exploring.

I lived in Kilmarnock for a while and there was a beach near Ayr that we used to walk the dogs on. On a cold wintery morning wrapped up in thick coats scarfs and wellies, was amazing!! Possibly not your most typical romantic walk but it was for us!!!

There’s a fabulous beach at the top end of Iona. The tourists rarely venture far beyond the abbey, but it’s only a little further on. The day we went started grey on Mull, but as we crossed the water, the skies cleared so the sea was a sparkling turqouise on a beach of white sand- better that an more exotic island!
