Review: Organic Seed & Bean chocolate

July 19, 2012 by Katie Bryson

seed & bean chocolate range

The range of bars from seed & bean

I’m not normally much of  a white chocolate fan – I find it sickly and cloying, but I was sent samples of a range of organic chocolate called Seed & Bean recently and it’s changed my perception.

Their take on the pale treat contains organic lemon oil which cuts through the creamy sweetness, and is also speckled with poppy seeds which gives it a very pleasant amount of texture and slight crunch.

It’s obviously not gone unnoticed, as it’s got a great taste gold  award on the packet. It’s also billed as being sustainable and ethical which gives you a warm glow as you munch your way a bit too swiftly through the 85g bar…

I’ve sloped off to the website to see where I can get more of this range from and this is what i’ve found out about them:

Made by: The Organic Seed & Bean Company was founded in 2005 by Derbyshire lad Stephen Rudkin with the idea to create an unusual range of confectionery and snacks, always Organic and Fairtrade when possible. He’s done stints at Green & Black’s, Whole Earth Foods and Clearspring before setting up his own venture.

Other interesting flavours: lemon & cardamom, tangerine, cornish sea salt, chilli & lime, lavender…

Where can I buy them? They’re not super easy to get hold of… look out for them at specialist shops, food markets or online… here’s their stockist page for more info

How much? 85g bars start at £2.29

Thanks for my samples. I have not been paid to write this review, I just wanted to tell you what I thought about the product as i’d not seen it before.

I love their lavender chocolate. Bought it at BBC Good Food last year.

I haven’t seen this chocolate around at all yet – must be shopping in the wrong places! I like a bit of texture in white chocolate too so will look out for the lemon and poppy seed one. Hotel Chocolat also do some nice white chocolate with crispy bits variations if you are developing a taste for the white stuff

Like you, I’m not normally a fan of white chocolate, but I really liked their lemon and poppy seed one. Just writing up my review now.

Beautiful little book the audience were all given Beautiful little book the audience were all given at last night’s performance of #Here from @curious.monkey_ at @northern_stage. Such a powerful performance from the talented cast bringing together individual stories of what it means to seek sanctuary in the North East, the friendships that are forged and the spark of hope that refuses to be snuffed out. With the plight of refugees so visible right now, the timing of this performance was impeccable. #RefugeesWelcome #togetherwithrefugees🧡 #StoryCollectors
