Unearthed® dips and meat platters

December 23, 2011 by Katie Bryson 392 Comments

I was hosting my Book Group’s Christmas bash at my place, so thought it’d be the perfect time to road test the unearthed®  range of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern treats.

unearthed dips

The dip selection

They sent me over a selection of dips and meat platters and this is what we thought…

The Mediterranean platter was a delicious mix of olives, mini chorizo and spicy cubes of cheese – very nibbletastic and moreish.

The salami and wafer thin slivers of ham went down very well, but it was the dips that were the real heroes of the night.

The broad bean houmous was the most dipped-in dip, hotly followed by pomegranate houmous with green harissa – so refreshing and a real departure from the usual shop-bought dips.

As well as devising super delicious foodie treats for their customers, they’ve also got a conscience. In Summer 2010, unearthed® became the first national brand to partner with Action Against Hunger.

Donating one penny per pack sold, half of the unearthed®  donations will go forward to the Zambia project supporting grandparent-headed households where older generations are left to care for children orphaned by HIV/AIDS.

It will provide households with nutritional support for families and longer-term sustainable income-generation activities. The additional money will go to other Action Against Hunger projects and emergency response.

So if you like the sound of unearthed® and their tasty morsels, then enter my competition to win the lot!

I like to make ham pinwheels. Use either ham or hot ham, spread a layer of vegetable cream cheese along with regular cream cheese (to help it hold together better) and then place a stalk of asparagus, roll up and slice. I generally make them the evening before and store in tupperware. They always go fast!

Nibbles don’t really cut it in our house so we serve a wide variety of food and lots of it so everyone finds something they like! Last summer though we did do a minature afternoon tea as part of a whole day of celebrations – mini filled rolls, mini sandwiches, tiny scones and gingerbread men – fiddly to do but what fun!

Olives are our favourite nibbles, as well as bread sticks & dips 🙂

Hummus with pine nuts and olive oil, and a variety of cubed cheeses on cocktail sticks as well as good quality olives usually go down well.
