Toddler snacks and how to avoid hangry meltdowns!

July 20, 2017 by Katie Bryson Leave a Comment

Toddler snacks and how to avoid hangry meltdowns on feedingboys.co.uk #NoJunkJourney
Toddlers are busy creatures, darting from one end of the house to another, emptying drawers, terrorising the pets and generally having a busy one. This means they get hungry. Like REALLY HUNGRY. So three meals a day just ain’t going to cut it.

The key is to give them some nutritious snacks in between meals to keep them energised, and to prevent those delightful ‘hangry’ meltdowns. It’s not just toddlers either. Arlo has always been a really ‘busy’ child, so I have to keep him regularly fuelled, or pay the price!!! ‘Hangry’ meltdowns are his specialist subject.

I’ve teamed up with Organix as part of their #NoJunkJourney to share some top tips on why toddlers need snacks, hangry signs to watch out for and ideas for good snacking.

Feeding Boys Toddler Snacks Tips

  • Always have food with you!

If you’re off on any adventures over the holidays, even if it’s just for a couple of hours, pack up a mini picnic of healthy but filling snacks. Here we are on the steps of the British Museum a few years ago tucking into our pavement picnic after a good session running around looking at Egyptian Mummies – such a great museum if you get the chance to go!

Toddler snacks: top tips with Feeding Boys and Organix #NoJunkJourney

  • Bake a batch of nutritious finger food

Stash it in the freezer ready to pack up and take out with you for said mini picnic. These mini quiches and fruity muffins are both ideal and you can load them up with fruit and veg too. Find the recipes here

  • Hit the shops!

If you haven’t got time to make things from scratch, the Organix snacking range is absolutely brilliant. We love their Sweet Cinnamon puffcorn, are long-time fans of their Carrot Sticks and more recently have grown a fondness for their Cocoa & Orange Crispy Bars. As a mum I love the fact that you know there are no unnecessary ingredients and it’s an entirely organic product – reassuring stuff.

What is the Organix No Junk Journey?

Organix are passionate that we take more care with how we’re feeding our children. From paying close attention to food labelling, to making sure that children have a clear understanding about the food they eat, and of course minimising the amount of junk in their diets. You can find out more about the research they’ve done and why I joined the campaign in this blogpost Why I’ve Joined the Organix No Junk Journey

Disclosure: This is part of a series of partnered posts I’m working on with Organix to promote their No Junk Journey campaign. It’s an issue I feel strongly about and want to share with you here on my blog.
