We probably try not to dwell on those uncomfortable Christmas moments, but I’ve been asked by DFS Sofas to dig mine up! It can be a highly fraught time of year, with so much time and effort spent planning and entertaining, that uncomfortable moments can come thick and fast.
I couldn’t quite decide. Would it be 2005 when I was so heavily up the duff with Sam that I looked and felt like a beached whale? I didn’t dare leave the house for longer than 10 minutes at a time in case I went into labour. That was the year I fully embraced Amazon. I’ve never looked back.
Or perhaps it was the year when we had lots of family over and when we all finally sat down to tuck into the Christmas Dinner I’d spent hours preparing, only to realise I’d completely forgotten to put Matthew’s vegetarian option in the oven? Hmmm are a few veggie sausages in a frying pan okay? Bad, bad wife.
Then there was the classic time the boys acted like such spoilt brats at how disappointed they were with the amount of presents they’d been given compared to their cousins… they actually cried. The shaaaaaaaaame!
But it really wouldn’t be Christmas without a bit of bad behaviour now would it? Plus, you can soften the blow with another cheeky G&T and a mince pie after all…
