Review: Whole Earth

December 5, 2013 by Katie Bryson

Whole Earth review products

As a family we get through a large amount of peanut butter and chocolate spread, so we were very excited at the prospect of being sent a box of the stuff to review.

Whole Earth Foods was founded in the 1960s and pitches its products as being made with natural ingredients sourced from responsible growers and suppliers. The palm oil used in the products we tried are labelled as being from a sustainable source.

We don’t often venture away from the Nutella brand of chocolate spread, the last time I bought a supermarket own version it didn’t go down well. It resulted in the boys asking for “normal chocolate spread” on their toast when asked what they wanted for breakfast.

The Whole Earth milk chocolate version has a lighter whipped texture and the boys demolished it in less than a week. I think Matthew *may* have helped them.

The three nut butter was smooth and delicious. It contains a lovely mix of cashews, hazelnuts and peanuts. This jar didn’t last long either…

Peanut butter and apple on toast

Matthew dolloped it into his smoothies, while I enjoyed it for breakfast spread on toast and topped with sliced apple – a flavour combination inspired by Sian’s delicious cake at Fishfingers for tea and also loved by Filipa at Gourmet Mum after we had a bit of instagram banter about it 🙂

The chunky one has a really natural flavour and is especially satisfying. I like that you can see some of the red skins from the nuts in it, you feel like you’re getting the whole thing.

Where can you get it?
In all major supermarkets, Co-op and Holland & Barratt

How much is it?

WE Original 454g: £3.19
WE Original 340g: £2.59
WE Original 227g: £1.99
WE Organic 340g: £2.68
WE 3 Nut: £3.19
WE Portion Pack: £3.49 (these are sachets – what a great idea for picnics!)
Chocolate spread £1.99 – comes in lightly whipped hazelnut, milk chocolate and dark chocolate flavours

Would I get it again? Yes definitely! It’s pricier than supermarket own brand, but I think the quality is so good I’d be tempted to get it again – especially if it’s on offer 😉

How do YOU eat your peanut butter? Which brand do you go for? Are you a chocolate spread fiend? Leave a comment!

Thanks to Whole Earth for sending the samples through for us to review. These are the honest views of the Bryson family and we have not been paid to write this!

hi Katie, great to see a post on whole earth. I have used loads of the peanut butter. I started using it before I had my little boy and had moved to a low GI diet. its so versatile! I am putting it into my porridge tomorrow x

Such a powerful performance from the talented cast bringing together individual stories of what it means to seek sanctuary in the North East, the friendships that are forged and the spark of hope that refuses to be snuffed out. With the plight of refugees so visible right now, the timing of this performance was impeccable. #RefugeesWelcome #togetherwithrefugees🧡 #StoryCollectors
