Who are Farmer’s Choice?

Farmer’s Choice is a small, friendly butcher business, delivering free-range meat and sustainably caught fish direct to customers through their website.

They have a great approach to sourcing, using only free range farms in the UK for a range of high quality meat taken from animals raised in natural and comfortable conditions.     I think if make pumpkin soup and I’d make the flavours really pop by sprinkling a little parmesan and some roasted pumpkin seeds on top before serving. Perfect food for a cold night!

    Black Bean and Pumpkin Beef Chilli

    Ingredients
    2 tablespoons olive oil
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1 medium sweet yellow pepper, chopped
    3 garlic cloves, minced
    2 cans (15 ounces each) black beans, rinsed and drained
    15 ounces chopped pumpkin
    1 can plum tomatoes, undrained
    3 cups beef stock
    1lb braised steak
    2x cubed potatoes
    2 teaspoons dried rosemary
    2 teaspoons chopped deseeded chili
    1-1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
    1-1/2 teaspoons dried oregano
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    Chopped celery ,

    In a large pan,
    Brown meat, remove, and then heat oil over medium-high heat. Add onion, celery and pepper; cook and stir until tender. Add garlic; cook 1 minute longer.
    2.Transfer to a large saucepan. ; stir in the remaining ingredients. Cook, covered, on low 4-5 hours. : 10 servings

    I’m thinking leftovers already, chopped chicken from any spare cold drumsticks, in wholemeal pitas or wraps with green leaves, rocket, watercress or lettuce, and some grated carrot. Maybe some lemon juice squeezed over and a little salt and pepper.

    Get the slow cooker out and toss in onions, pumpkins, celery, garlic, peppers, stock & herbs and chicken legs. hen Nearly cooked, add some beans or chickpeas. Makes a filling meal for anyone going trick or treating (stops them eating too many sweets)

    Well, more is definitely more for me, and those gorgeous ingredients set off so many ideas that i decided to have a Halloween party – my menu would include a pumpkin and rosemary soup, pork sausages baked in a wholegrain mustard and honey glaze, a rich chilli con carne and some baked potatoes in their jackets with pats of butter. We would finish off with baked apples and custard – yummy !!!

    Those Halloween stuffed peppers are wild! The kids could get creative making those & I’d make sure the adult ones had a bit of a spicy kick to them. Ketchup blood would make a ghoulish garnish too.

    i would made some spooky sausage mummy fingers, with tomato dip – sausages wrapped in filo pastry then bake in oven, then with a blood salsa (diced tomatoes & chillies)
