Review: TUMTUM kids tableware

June 19, 2013 by Katie Bryson

TUMTUM children's tableware

Who are TUMTUM?

TUMTUM are product designers who aim to create top notch kids cutlery, tableware, baking sets and kit for eating and drinking out and about. They key is that they’re fellow parents looking to make kids’ lives easier at the table. I like them already…

What products did I test?

Trainee dragon bowl and trainee monster plate aimed at the 3+ age – both 100% melamine and BPA free.

What did I think?

I love the funky non-babyish design, bold colours and generous proportions. It’s important for tableware to have a long life, so things that look babyish will soon be rejected by independent toddlers who want to feel grown up. Both my boys loved the irreverent monster in his Y-fronts!

They’re funky and bright which I love. And their big size means they’re perfect for big appetites, but also means food isn’t going to be spilling out of the sides. The plate has a good lip around the edge so your little one won’t be chasing their peas across the table.

You can whack them in the dishwasher – hoorah!

Value for money?

The plate is £8 and the bowl £7, so a bit more than you’d spend at ikea, but you are getting a sturdy product that’s got bags of visual appeal. My only fear would be it smashing on our slate floor which is not very forgiving when you drop stuff – even melamine.

Would I recommend them to a friend? Yes definitely – I also think they’d make a nice gift if you’re struggling for ideas for toddler birthday pressies – especially their gorgeous out and about range. Look at these lush little snack pots!

Thanks to TUMTUM for providing review samples. The views expressed here are my own honest opinion of the products.

Beautiful little book the audience were all given Beautiful little book the audience were all given at last night’s performance of #Here from @curious.monkey_ at @northern_stage. Such a powerful performance from the talented cast bringing together individual stories of what it means to seek sanctuary in the North East, the friendships that are forged and the spark of hope that refuses to be snuffed out. With the plight of refugees so visible right now, the timing of this performance was impeccable. #RefugeesWelcome #togetherwithrefugees🧡 #StoryCollectors
