spider cupcakes on Parentdish

Remember these spider cupcakes from last year?

As Halloween approaches it’s good to stock up on some fun sprinkles and coloured icing for all those spooky baking projects you might have in mind.

Last year Sam really got into decorating Halloween biscuits and cakes, so I’m definitely going to get out the cookie cutters and writing icing again this year. It also makes a brilliant playdate activity. If you’re looking for recipe inspiration I put these spider cupcakes together last year for Parentdish, and have some recipes up my sleeve for this year which i’ll be sharing with you v.soon!

I make chocolate cupcakes with chocolate buttercream and decorate them with cola laces and other sweets to look like spiders, they go down well. Also the sausage rolls dipped in ketchup that look like bloodied fingers. I love celebrating Halloween, any excuse for a party 🙂

Hubby bought some silicon Pumpkin shaped (with faces) moulds, so we’re going to bake cakes and when they’re half cooked we’re going to insert some kind of ooooooozing red yummy-ness filling so when you bite into it it oozes out and looks a bit like blood (OK, a bit gruesome lol).
