Vegetable crumble

September 22, 2011 by Katie Bryson

1. Big up the British!

First up I’m very proud to say I’ve been asked to write a blog post for the mighty Netmums to help celebrate British Food Fortnight.

You can check out my post and see how I got on cooking up Veg Crumble, a recipe I found on the brilliant Netmums food section… a great place for some meal inspiration.

If you think that looks tempting then you’ll have to skip over to Netmums for the recipe.

And while we’re on the topic of British food…

2. Happy Birthday!

You may remember I blogged about the completely brilliant West Ealing Farmers Market a few months back.

Exeter Street Bakery at West Ealing Farmers Market

Well it’s celebrating it’s 10th birthday this weekend and there’s loads in store if you’re in the area on Saturday:

There’ll be birthday cake, farmers will be cooking up lunch, the market will have slightly longer hours to cover the lunch period, plus some other great FREE activities will take place including:

The Kids Cookery School will be visiting to deliver fun and creative hands on cookery workshops to children, young people and families.

The farmers market will also be running a Children’s art workshop with vegetable printing and chalk graffiti

Love Food Hate Waste will be demonstrating better recycling techniques

And there will be sporadic egg and spoon races along the street when we have enough willing participants

The festivities are part of West Ealing family day

I remember English food: the whatever with three veg, and the veg were mashed potatoes, chips, and baked beans. And when we asked what type of ham it was (leg, processed, smoked, honeyed, shoulder, boneless) we were told “HAM …from … a… pig”. I’m sure things have changed.

Beautiful little book the audience were all given Beautiful little book the audience were all given at last night’s performance of #Here from @curious.monkey_ at @northern_stage. Such a powerful performance from the talented cast bringing together individual stories of what it means to seek sanctuary in the North East, the friendships that are forged and the spark of hope that refuses to be snuffed out. With the plight of refugees so visible right now, the timing of this performance was impeccable. #RefugeesWelcome #togetherwithrefugees🧡 #StoryCollectors
